Empowering Lives Through Living Kidney Donation

Give the gift of life

We’re passionate about transforming the lives of Black kidney patients through living kidney donation

We aim to increase the number of pre-emptive transplants for Black African Caribbean kidney patients through targeted community initiatives and partnerships

Our Mission

Gift of Living Donation is committed to raising awareness of  living kidney donation within the Black community.

Our mission is to empower Black African Caribbean kidney patients by providing them with the tailored information and support needed to have meaningful conversations about living kidney donation with families and friends.

We collaborate with the NHS, charitable and voluntary organisations equally committed to transforming lives through living donor kidney transplantation.

Life-Saving Impact

Living kidney donation can significantly improve the quality of life for  kidney patients, offering them a chance of a healthier, longer life.

Community Support

Our  community- led peer phone buddy scheme provides Black patients with support and the opportunity to discuss living kidney donation with family and friends from a Black perspective, fostering a better understanding

Pre-emptive Transplant

Early conversations about living kidney donation can lead to a pre-emptive transplant, potentially eliminating the need for dialysis.

Empowerment Through Knowledge

We provide comprehensive resources and education to help Black kidney patients and their families make informed decisions about living kidney donation.

Book

We’re a joyful community choir made up of people who are mainly Black living kidney donors.

Established in 2022 as a creative platform to inspire and encourage people from the Black community to consider being a living kidney donor. Using the power of music  it’s a wonderful way to empower people and raise awareness of living kidney donation.

Our Partners

What people say about our work.

I knew little about organ donation; however, I knew that it was something black people did not partake in. After reading More Than a Match my attitude towards it has changed. The bottom line is that people from the African-Caribbean community must help each other to succeed not only in music and sports but also in health.

“Thanks for sharing your living donor experience life. As a kidney transplant recipient and activist in this area, I am so grateful that you have shared your family’s story through the pain and joy so that other people are better informed and feel part of a larger family. I am sure your book will give much hope and inspiration to many. God bless you for blessing others.”

Deepak Mahtani

“This is a warm and sensitively written book chronicling the emotional and practical journey a sister takes by offering to be a living kidney donor for her brother. I found the account easy to read and both informative and inspirational. I highly recommend this book to those who are interested in this topic or contemplating become a living organ donor.”
